Chia-Ying Chiang Associate Professor

Education:
  • Ph.D. in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering, USA, 2012.
  • M.S. in Chemical Engineering, Taiwan, 2008.
  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Taiwan, 2006.

Research areas

The research group of Professor Chiang is focused on the sustainable engineering processes. We aim to utilize the renewable resources and earth abundant materials to generate our clean energy such as utilizing solar energy to generate hydrogen, a high-quality energy carrier and developing the electrocatalysts to lower the over-potential of water splitting hydrogen evolution reaction as well as oxygen evolution reaction. We are also interested in designing a high mass and heat transfer system based on the process intensification concept to increase the process efficiency and lower the capital cost. The current research topics are:

  1. Electrocatalytic water splitting for hydrogen generation
  2. Photoelectrochemical cell for solar to hydrogen conversion
  3. Process intensification to enhance mass and heat transfer
